Synopsis

Looking for work, salesman Homer Pettigrew goes from his Indiana home to Los Angeles and answers a newspaper want-ad at the Johnson Bra Company. He interrupts a business meeting and suggests that he can bolster the company's dwindling sales by selling bras door-to-door. Millionaire owner Cash Johnson is impressed, but sales manager August Poe takes exception to the plan. Aided by Cash's secretary, Candy Cotton, Poe plots to take over the company by courting Cash's daughter, Pamela. Homer falls in love with Pamela, and with this incentive, he sells 300 bras the first day. Poe tries to get rid of Homer by sending him to West Virginia, but Homer wastes no time, selling bras to the airline stewardesses on board his flight. He makes customers of all the farmers' wives and daughters and receives an order for a million bras from the Women's Army Corps. Poe discredits Homer and takes credit for the sales. Homesick for Pamela, Homer sends word that he is returning to Los Angeles, but Poe reports him to the FBI as a mad bomber, and he is arrested as he boards the plane. Homer's true identity is discovered, and the federal agents arrest Poe in Las Vegas as he is about to marry Pamela. Homer takes Poe's place in the ceremony, and Cash takes advantage of the situation by marrying Candy.
