Synopsis

Princess Nisa, heir to the throne in the Roman province of Cilicia, has been a slave girl in the Valeri household for 14 years. She is somewhat compensated by the love which she shares with Valerio, the Valeri son, until the emperor orders the execution of the youth's parents. Furthermore, the family's slaves are imprisoned, including Nisa and her friend Marcus, whose strength enables him to become a gladiator. Later, the emperor orders one of his henchmen to murder Nisa because she is the last survivor of the previous royal family. Since Nisa and the other slaves also face death because they are Christians, Valerio, who has avoided imprisonment, works on the outside for their escape, which is finally accomplished after Marcus bends the thick metal bars of the cell. They are recaptured and sentenced to be crucified, but a new emperor overturns the death sentence, restores Valerio and Nisa to their former positions, and frees Marcus and the other Christians.
