Synopsis
Tim, a young Englishman who hopes to escape the city for a holiday weekend with his girl friend, Dierdre, borrows his buddy Fred's ice cream van to help tow his trailer to the coast. His romantic expectations are dashed, however, when Dierdre's mother, Florence, decides to join the three of them for a weekend in "Lulu," as the van is called. Fred's sense of direction is found wanting the next morning when the foursome suddenly find themselves in France, having mistakenly caught the channel ferry somewhere along the way. After varied episodes with cyclists, a brothel madam, a seller of dirty postcards, and several local gendarmes, the van is rushed back to England on an air freighter when it is mistaken for an ambulance.
