Synopsis

During World War II, a group of German women are selected to participate in the breeding of a master race by mating with a chosen group of young men from the armed forces and the SS. Dr. Hagen, head of the Lebensborn camp, becomes attracted to Doris Korff, although emotions are not supposed to affect the selection of mates. Before her scheduled mating, Doris falls in love with Klaus Steinbach, a lieutenant who escaped execution for his anti-Nazi sentiments by assuming the identity of an SS man killed in an air raid. Appalled by the cold-blooded mating practices and the prospect of forced breeding with Dr. Hagen, Doris attempts to escape to Switzerland with Klaus, but he is shot and killed. Temporarily spared because she is pregnant, Doris is sentenced to die after the birth of her baby. Later, Doris discovers that her new-born baby has been killed. During an air raid, she manages to escape from the camp.
