Synopsis
While vacationing in England, American Saul Coe has an affair with unhappily married Estelle LeFol. Goaded on by the woman, Saul kills her wealthy husband, Godfrey, and places his body in an abandoned blockhouse on the beach. With her husband out of the way, Estelle no longer needs Saul and rejects him. Rita, Saul's fiancée, arrives and becomes suspicious of the strained relationship between Saul and Estelle. Knowing that the young woman is a threat to her safety, Estelle murders her. Saul comes to realize the truth about Estelle's ruthlessness and decides to kill her; during a chase along a cliff path, Estelle loses her footing and falls to her death. He carries her body to the blockhouse, where Godfrey's suspicious and vengeful mother, Ruth, suddenly appears and locks him in with the murder victims. Hysterical, Saul shoots himself.
