Synopsis
Beatrice leaves her family's apartment in Marseilles to meet Coraline, the wife of Quaglio, a society figure who heads a white slave ring. The gangsters, posing as members of the upper classes to entrap young women, rape their victims and then put them to work as streetwalkers. Pierre, Beatrice's fiancé, follows her to the dancehall where she is to meet Coraline. Nasol and Tom, two gangsters employed by Quaglio, knock Pierre unconscious and steal his wallet to throw police off the track. Beatrice, Coraline, and several other young women leave the dancehall to spend the evening at Quaglio's lavish villa. Pierre regains consciousness, eludes police, and rushes to the villa, where he is overpowered by Tom, who has since murdered Nasol for insubordination. The young women now realize for the first time that they have been trapped by a prostitution ring, and Coraline attempts unsuccessfully to help them escape. Police surround the villa, and the criminals meet their deaths in a gun battle just before dawn. The young women are rescued, and Pierre is reunited with Beatrice. [According to foreign sources Coraline is the wife of one of the gang members.]
