Synopsis
After Robert Wegner, Georg Kugler, and Willy Schneider have laid out their plans for cracking the safe at the West Berlin Labor Office, Georg accidentally sees his mistress, Else, with Robert. Jealously misconstruing the situation, Georg anonymously informs the police of the impending theft. As a result, the thieves are caught during the robbery. In the ensuing gun battle, Robert is badly wounded but manages to escape. He is recognized, however, by Police Commissioner Stern as the man who saved his life during World War II. The sad but relentless Stern pursues Robert and, upon finding him, tries to persuade him to give himself up. Stern reaches to shake hands with the man who had once saved his life, but Robert knocks him out and steals his gun, only to be shot down by the waiting police.
