Synopsis

In the 16th century, the usurper Manfred seizes the Duchy of Monteforte and uses Saracen pirates to control the state. His tyrannical rule is opposed by Richard, the pirate of the Black Hawk, and a group of the murdered Duke of Monteforte's loyal subjects. Manfred captures the Duke's daughter Eleanor and her younger brother and then threatens to kill the boy unless Eleanor agrees to become his wife. Richard and his men pose as the ambassador of France and his delegation and infiltrate the wedding. During the battle that ensues, the women flee to the castle's dungeons. Knowing Eleanor is there, Manfred orders the rooms sealed and flooded. Richard and his men capture the fortress, however, and rescue the women, as Manfred is killed by an execution device planned for Richard.
