Synopsis

Marko, a Yugoslavian youth, and Lotti, a little German girl, are orphaned during an air raid in World War II. Determined to find a "valley of peace," they flee from the Germans. Sergeant Jim, an American Negro airman whose plane has been shot down, helps them find their way to Marko's uncle's valley, which the children believe to be their destination. When they arrive, however, fighting breaks out between the Germans and the partisans, and Jim is fatally wounded. The children escape and resume their search for the peaceful valley.
