Synopsis

Young Joe Candlewick stands at the open stage door of the Modern Follies burlesque theater looking at the acts on stage through binoculars. When he returns to his office job, Joe fantasizes about his female co-workers and sees them "topless." Later, Joe places a $10 phone bet on a horse race at 11,000 to 1 odds and tells a secretary that if he wins, he is going to buy a burlesque theater. After another session at the stage door, Joe's nagging wife phones to remind him that his boss, Mr. Quigby, is coming to dinner that evening and tells him to hire a special chef for the occasion. The chef turns out to be a disgruntled former employee of Quigby and throws food at him. After Quigby and Joe's wife leave, Joe phones the stagedoor keeper at the burlesque house and asks him to open the door so that Joe and the chef can view the acts on stage through a telescope from Joe's house. When Joe's wife returns from trying to placate Quigby, the chef throws food at her. The next day, Joe discovers that he has won $110,000 in the horse race and plans to buy the theater. He realizes that his secretary, Stacey, used to be a striptease dancer and asks her to audition for him. However, a gentleman from the Tax Bureau shows up and tells Joe that he owes $110,000 plus thirty cents in bookeeping charges.
