Synopsis

This film is a record of a burlesque show featuring two group dance performances, five dances with stripteases and four comedy skits. Following an opening dance number on the set of a carnival, a carnival barker lures a patron into using his head as a target for the rubber ball toss. Other skits include a man impersonating a doctor while selling health machines used primarily on female customers, a "Palace of Passion" where men select women of different nationalities for their romantic liaisons, and a skit in which boxes of candy are used to make women amorous. Another company dance number includes a pas de deux featuring the DuPonts. The show concludes with a curtain call introducing the performers.

Notes

NYSA records lists alternate titles as Peek-A-Boo Burlesque and Take It Off. Venus is listed above the title credit as "VENUS The Body Beautiful," and the corps dancers are listed in the opening credits as "The Peek-A-Boo Lovelies." Singer Pat O'Shea is credited onscreen as "The Vocalist," but does not appear in the film. Although the onscreen credits contain a 1953 copyright statement for Billiken Pictures, the film is not listed in the Copyright Catalog. No reviews or release dates have been located for Peek-A-Boo, although it was approved for exhibition in New York state in 1953. Some footage appears to significantly pre-date 1953.
