Synopsis
Cathy and her boyfriend, George Bennett, an aspiring young architect, decide to marry, but a year later, instead of achieving happiness, they discover that their lives are empty. George works long hours to advance his career while his neglected wife turns to reckless friends for entertainment. Cathy defies George's wishes by attending a country club dance with playboy Frank Grover, who makes a pass at her. George soon realizes that his wife may be having an affair. Cathy talks with George about her desire to start a family but again displeases him when she invites her friends to their house for a night of drunken revelry. George stays at the office as he does not want to attend the party. However, when the party starts to get wild, Cathy calls George and asks him to come home. When George returns, he finds two partially-dressed women fighting each other on the floor and throws everybody out. After Cathy talks again about having a child, they go to consult a gynecologist, Dr. Carl Wright, to see if there is a reason why Cathy is not conceiving. Cathy is examined and is found to be free of problems. George, however, is found to be sterile. They are offered the possibility of artificial insemination and decide to consider that option. After Cathy discusses the situation with her mother, she and George proceed with the insemination. Eventually, Cathy gives birth to a girl and, a few years later, to a son, and she and George are at last content.

Notes
An opening title states: "Medical and Technical Data Approved and Supervised by the National Research Foundation for Fertility Incorporated, Nesconset, L.I., N.Y." The print viewed included a 1948 copyright statement but the title was not found in copyright records. An advertisement for a 1950 Los Angeles booking proclaimed: "Without This Knowledge, 10,000,000 Children Will Never Be Born!!!" The earliest review located for the film appeared in The Exhibitor in January 1954, when the picture was re-issued under the title Blessed Are They. A modern source credits Harry Thomas as makeup artist.
