Synopsis

Near a ranch in the Argentine pampas, the car belonging to an important theatrical impresario gets stuck. Elvira, the girl friend of the ranch's owner, sings for the ranch hands, ignoring the criticism of her sister Rosita, who thinks she should save her voice for more important occasions. After revealing her talent to the impresario, Elvira moves to Buenos Aires in search of fame and fortune. Rosita also seeks a career as a dancer, although she is not very good. She does, however, win the love of the theater's star. Anselmo, Elvira's spurned boyfriend, learns of her fame in the newspapers and leaves for Buenos Aires to look for her. There, Elvira regards him as a bumpkin and Anselmo returns to his ranch. However, two of his ranch hands go to the theater, lasso Elvira off the stage and deliver her back to Anselmo at the ranch, where she decides to remain.
