Synopsis

While touring Kentucky with Rita, his daughter, Daniel Hackett, a millionaire stockbroker and horseracing aficionado, stops in front of a tobacco plantation owned by Randolph Manners. When Rita expresses a desire to buy the house, Hackett makes Randolph a generous offer for it, but is refused. Infuriated by Randolph's stubbornness, Hackett manipulates the stock market and destroys his rival's tobacco interests. Nearly broke, Randolph is forced to sell to Hackett, but snubs Rita when he sees her. A regretful Rita contrives to meet with Randolph and tells him that she will find a way to restore the plantation to him. Aware of her father's obsession with horses, Rita paints the feet of "Satan," her own thoroughbred, sells him to Randolph and enters him in the Wildwood meet against her father's favorite horse. When "Satan" wins, Hackett insists on buying him from Randolph, who coyly names the plantation as his price. Hackett agrees to the deal and eventually forgives Rita and Randolph, her new fiancé, for their scheming.
