Synopsis
Upon returning home from finishing school, Anabel Lee falls in love with Warner Richmond, a young man who is caring for his dying grandfather. One of the stipulations of his wealthy grandfather's will is that Warner is not to marry, and so when Anabel becomes pregnant, Warner insists upon a secret marriage until he inherits the family fortune. Just after his grandfather's death, Warner falls in love with an opera signer and destroys all proof of his marriage to Anabel. He then marries the opera singer who deserts him immediately after acquiring all his property. Meanwhile, Anabel, believing that Warner is dead, marries her childhood sweetheart, a doctor. In his misery, Warner turns to drink and wanders back to the little town. Seized with delirium, he is attended by Anabel's husband, and after learning that her husband is still alive, Anabel runs away. Warner meets his death when he overturns a lamp in the hospital and perishes in the fire, but the doctor finds his wife and all ends happily.
