Synopsis

Divorcée Adrienne Van Couver is warned by a clairvoyant to beware of an admirer, Robert Warren, whom she has spurned. The warning comes true after Adrienne's ex-husband, John Dean, meets Warren, an old friend, and tells him the story of his marriage to Adrienne. He reveals that her frivolity caused the death of their only child, and that after their divorce, Adrienne proceeded to destroy Dean's romance with Lorraine Barkley by arousing the girl's jealousy and driving her into the arms of lawyer Henry Armstrong. Enraged by Adrienne's treachery, Warren goes to her apartment and chokes her to death. Dean arrives after Warren has fled and is arrested for the murder. Believing that Dean is innocent, Lorraine persuades Armstrong to defend him. Armstrong traces Warren to a hotel where, on the verge of drunken delirium, he confesses to the crime. Learning the truth from Warren's confession, Lorraine reconsiders and agrees to marry Dean.
