Synopsis

When wealthy, dissolute William Baker meets the wife of sculptor Antonio Bordiga, he falls madly in love and kidnaps her. Antonio soon learns that his captive wife has committed suicide, so, after putting his infant daughter in a convent, he vows to catch up to Baker. When he does, after years of searching, he hires some gypsies to kidnap Baker's wife and then kill her. The gypsies make a mistake, however, and kidnap Antonio's daughter instead. Antonio manages to save her just as the gypsies are about to give her poisoned wine, and then, frenzied, he goes after Baker. He begins strangling him, but his daughter makes him stop, and convinces him to leave vengeance up to God.

Notes

Moving Picture World lists the release date as March 1916. The New York distributor of the film was The New York Film Co. The Nola Film Co. was located in New Orleans. Although Wid's credits George Travis as cameraman, this is probably an error, as Nola's cameraman at the time was Norton Travis.
