Synopsis

Lola Brandt has no idea that Amos, her miserly father, is worth a fortune, but still, in deciding on George Gray instead of Richard Denton, she opts for love over money in choosing a fiancé. Richard gets over his disappointment by investing in a company that defrauds the public, and then, after having learned of Amos' wealth and with the company facing bankruptcy, he decides to rob the old man. Amos catches him, however, so Richard kills him, takes the money and then breathes easily when authorities accuse a butler of the murder. But Lola and George are able to expose Richard, with the couple then getting married and making plans as how best to use Lola's surprise inheritance.
