Synopsis

Bob Stange and Judge Gates have vowed never to marry, but Bob finally proposes to Constance despite the judge's admonitory story of a messy divorce in which the real victim was a child neither parent wanted. The judge performs the marriage but recognizes Constance as the woman from the divorce story, and then Bob discovers that she has been unfaithful to him. The judge and Bob go camping and meet Alita, the judge's ward who has been raised in the woods. Bob and Alita fall in love, and so Bob begs an unsympathetic Constance for a divorce, but when Alita discovers that Bob is married she runs away from him. Finally, the judge tells Bob's wife that Alita is the daughter she abandoned, and a remorseful Constance commits suicide so her child and Bob can be together.
