Synopsis

When John Carter-Carter, whose love of liquor leads him astray, arrives late and intoxicated at a lawn party given to announce his engagement to Marybelle Loring, her father forces her to break the engagement. After Carter tells Marybelle's little brother Billie that his sister is sad because of a "ringtailed rhinoceros," Billie and Carter fall asleep planning to kill it. Carter dreams that he is shanghaied by pirates. After the ringtailed rhinoceros leads him to the captain's rum, Carter is ordered to walk the plank. He floats to an island where a little prince, named "Good Intent," takes him to his sister, the weeping princess, who must cry until the ringtailed rhinoceros is slain. With "Resolution," an eight-legged horse, Carter starts on the hunt, but the rhinoceros seduces him into partying every night in the king's wine cellar. After the beast and his cohorts attack the castle, Carter, cajoled by the prince, hits the rhinoceros with a wine bottle and kills it. The princess stops crying and embraces Carter. He awakens and reports that the ringtailed rhinoceros is dead.
