Synopsis

Betty Brown, a coquette, loves Robert Mason but finds herself attracted to the ardent Joseph Clews and finally agrees to elope with him. At the hotel in Hartford where they are to meet, Betty learns that Joseph has been delayed and cannot keep their appointment. When she is mistaken for the estranged wife of Richard Dennison, Betty, who has no money, settles into one of the rooms reserved for Dennison's party. The real Mrs. Dennison arrives the next day, but upon discovering that she will receive a large sum of money from her uncle only if she is happily married to Richard, she keeps her temper in check and goes along with Betty's masquerade. Betty's suitors appear to further complicate the situation, but in the end, the Dennisons get their money and Betty returns to Robert.
