Synopsis
Once upon a time, there lived a misshapen dwarf named Rumpelstiltskin, who possessed magical powers. Coveting the miller's pretty daughter Polly, Rumpelstiltskin offers two bags of gold for her, but her father angrily throws him out. Rumpelstiltskin vows revenge and tells King Cole, whose coffers are empty, that Polly can spin straw into gold. Polly and her father are imprisoned, and she is commanded to spin straw into gold by dawn or else they will be beheaded. To save her father, Polly agrees to Rumpelstiltskin's offer to do the task in return for her first-born child, if it is a girl. After Prince Cole, who falls in love with Polly, rescues her from a dragon, they travel far away on the magic carpet of a Good Fairy. They marry and have a baby girl, who later is stolen by Rumpelstiltskin. With the magic carpet, Polly and the prince locate their daughter and return to the castle, whereupon Rumpelstiltskin is imprisoned and condemned to spin straw into gold for the rest of his natural life.
