Synopsis

Arnold Faringay, a youthful accountant for a New York construction firm, embezzles $20,000 for stock market speculation. After losing the money, he asks for a loan from Walter Gresham, his older sister Dorothy's fiancé, but is turned down. Dorothy, who at the reading of their father's will agreed to protect the family honor, learns that chief engineer Edward Thursfield is the power in the firm. She follows him to Atlantic City, where he is building the largest concrete bridge in the world, and her flirtations are rewarded by Thursfield's proposal of marriage. Upon returning, Thursfield learns of Arnold's indiscretion and replaces the $20,000 to keep Dorothy from learning about it. When Dorothy breaks her engagement to Gresham, he catches Thursfield embracing her, and reveals her ploy. Thursfield angrily leaves, but after Arnold's stock rises and he returns the stolen money and promises to reform, Dorothy convinces Thursfield that she accepted his proposal because she loved him. When last seen, Thursfield and Dorothy ride horses along a prairie trail.
