Synopsis

After her father is killed by means of an Apache deathlock, whereby the victim is tied to a tree and abandoned, Nell is adopted by Dal Daroux, a card cheat. Fourteen years later, Daroux, who has been using Nell as an accomplice in his gambling schemes, takes her to Alaska in the hope of jumping a recent widow's gold claim. On the boat, Nell meets Ford Worthing, a hopeful prospector who loses all of his uncle's money in a crooked card game headed by Daroux. Despondent, Ford tries to shoot himself, but is stopped by an unseen Nell. While in Dawson, Ford falls in love with the girl, and then, when he learns of Daroux' plan to overtake and kill the widow's envoy, follows the thief into the wilderness. Sensing disaster, Nell also ventures into the woods and saves Ford from the deathlock Daroux has devised for him. Torn apart by his own dog team, Daroux dies alone in the wilderness.

The film was shot in the Klondike District of Alaska, and the winners of the 1914 Alaskan sweepstakes, a team of malamutes owned by musher John Johnson, were used in the dog sledding scenes.
