Synopsis
To avert financial ruin, Colonel Taylor, a racehorse enthusiast from Kentucky, enters "My Lady," his prize thoroughbred, in a spring race. Injured during the race, the horse is retired for breeding and gives birth to "Blue Grass," a spirited colt. After sinking even further into debt, Colonel Taylor instructs Morgan, his son, to take a second colt to Louisville and get a good price for him, but Morgan sells the animal to the scheming bookmaker Kelley for half of its worth and loses all of the money in a horserace. On a trip to Cincinnati, Taylor's daughter Virginia meets Wilfred Warren, a wealthy lawyer, who shows up in Louisville the following spring, eager to pursue her. A bankrupt colonel enters "Blue Grass" in a highstakes race, but Kelley fixes the contest against him. When Warren discovers the plot, he intervenes on the colonel's behalf, and Morgan, now employed by Kelley, quits in disgust. "Blue Grass" wins the race and Warren wins Virginia's hand.

According to one pre-release article, John Boone was hired to play the role of Kelley. Scenes for this film were shot in Saratoga Springs and Henderson, KY, and in Richmond, VA. According to one publicity article, prominent horses from Saratoga, Belmont and Pimlico racetracks were used in the final racing scene. "Blue Grass" was a former champion racehorse.
