Synopsis

Lorenzo, a gambler and dance hall owner, lures young Mabel Whitney from her family. Years later, she is found in Lorenzo's establishment by Major Dean, a U.S. Army surgeon, who is interested in the power of mental telepathy. Dean uses that power on Mabel, hoping to expel Lorenzo's influence from her mind. During a fray in the dance hall, a bullet strikes Mabel, erasing her memory, after which Dean takes her into his home and tells her that she is his daughter. Lorenzo follows and tries to manipulate Mabel again, but Dean's powers of telepathy are able to protect her. Meanwhile, Whitney, a sergeant under Dean's command, recognizes Mabel as his long-lost daughter. In a fight, Whitney and Lorenzo kill each other. Despite Mabel's past, Lieutenant Sibley proposes to her and she accepts.
