Synopsis

Helen, the daughter of wealthy counterfeiter James Long, innocently passes a bogus bill in a Philadephia department store, and thus initiates a Federal investigation headed by agent William J. Burns. After uncovering the engraving plates and capturing some of the counterfeiters, Burns and his assistant, agent Florence Castle, are able to smash most of the operation. Helen helps her father, however, and the counterfeiting begins again until Burns convinces Long to turn state's evidence to save his daughter. In the end, all of the counterfeiters are tried and convicted. A year later Long is released and Helen marries an agent with whom she has fallen in love. In an epilogue, Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, author of the Sherlock Holmes stories, is seen congratulating Burns on his detective work.
