Synopsis

A dying man bequeaths a fortune to his niece with the stipulation that she must marry or the estate will revert to her aunt. Exploiting the young woman's ignorance of the terms of the will, the aunt encourages her to enter a convent. Heartbroken by her departure, the girl's sweetheart becomes a priest. On her deathbed, the aunt summons the niece and tells her of the deception. Following her aunt's death, the niece is pursued by many young men, but she refuses them all. Because of her former sweetheart's vows, she is unable to marry him, and thus she returns to the convent and becomes a nun, named Sister Berenice.
