Synopsis

Professor Dodd, an anthropologist, hopes that his daughter Alma will marry Robert Harris, the son of a college friend, despite the fact that Alma loves Joe, the family chauffeur. Dodd invites Robert to visit, but unknown to the professor, Robert has died of heart failure and his place is taken by a gambler named Haines who is his exact double. Haines insinuates to Alma that Joe is married, after which the spurned Joe goes to the Northwest. When Alma discovers Haines's deception, she and Dodd follow Joe to the Northwest where the anthropologist intends to study Indians. Haines pursues them, disguised as a professor, and abducts Alma. Joe, having saved the Indian princess Water Lily, enlists her help and rescues Alma. In a final confrontation, Haines is killed.
