Synopsis

Biograph summary: This is an extensive production of the play which has been made famous in this country by Joseph Jefferson. The parts are taken by foreign actors and the costumes are somewhat different to those familiar with the American stage, but the action is very good and the story well told. Rip's home is shown at first, followed by the quarrel with his wife and his ejection. The next scene shows Rip's ascent of the mountain, his meeting with Hudson and dwarfs and the drinking of the sleeping potion. Next comes the awakening after 20 years' sleep and his painful departure over the mountain. The last scene shows Rip returning to his native village and the excitement caused thereby.
