Synopsis

La Estrella is a poor but close-knit neighborhood that has not yet been incorporated into the big city that lies beyond it. For years, the people of La Estrella have been eagerly awaiting to have electricity turned on in their neighborhood. At long last, the day has arrived when the streetlights are finally turned on, which inspires La Estrella to erupt into a comical, two-day long celebration.until the question arises about when the lights will be turned on at the homes. Fearing that they're headed for another long period of waiting, the two most important families of La Estrella, the Cristanchos and the Brocheros, decide to take things into their own hands by pirating the electricity from the lamp posts. The entire neighborhood follows their lead. Shortly thereafter, La Estrella finds itself divided into two warring factions, headed by each of the families. A series of pranks escalate the tension between the factions, culminating with heartbreak between two young lovers and a deeply ironic and tragic twist of events.
