Synopsis

Headstrong Johanna insists on being called Jeanne, as she's determined to go to fashion school in Paris. But the chunky girl is so focused on designing she's failing miserably in school, unbeknownst to her hardworking single mom, Susanne. When Johanna passes the first round of applications for the ultra-selective Paris academy, she goes to see the man she's always been told is her father, hoping he'll cough up the $12,000 tuition fee, as he's never paid child support. It's then she learns that, although he was present at her birth, he's not her real dad. Furious at her mother, Johanna extracts the truth that her birth father, a Turk, doesn't know she exists. He's a successful restaurateur whose classy Turkish eatery is about to celebrate its 10th year in business. Without hinting at her motives, Johanna bullies her way into a kitchen position, the better to observe her dad, Cumhur, from afar. There are plenty of surprises in store, including the fact Idil, a classmate who taunts her, is actually her half-sister.
