Synopsis
Mamadi represents your average African immigrant in Paris. By night, he is a simple car park attendant earning just enough money to pay off his unforgiving landlady. By day, he is hard at work completing his doctoral thesis. Through his observations of the car park universe, innocent Mamadi is gently introduced to Europe's working underworld, making friends with prostitutes and thieves. On the job, he begins an unlikely relationship with the slacker Franck, who still lives at home with his parents and uses his money for simple pleasures like taking out girls and riding his motorbike. Franck is more guilty of the racist stereotypes often levelled at Mamadi, of being lazy and carefree, and his admiration for the hard-working African man helps seal a firm friendship. For Mamadi, Franck offers the only real camaraderie he has known since arriving in France. Their bond is further consolidated when the unwitting Mamadi witnesses a drug deal gone wrong and suddenly he and Franck find themselves with a heap of illegal money in their possession and drug dealers on their tail.
