Synopsis
A drama that charts the complex and problematic relationships between parent and child and portrays three women at key moments in their lives. Muriel is a young woman of 20 who is still in the process of finding herself. She leaves her parents, boyfriend and the stifling life of her country village for Brussels where she hopes to achieve her independence. She goes to live with Laura, 37, a vital free spirit, who, although she has a chaotic love-life, is tormented by her growing desire for a child. Muriel takes her as a role model but makes the bitter discovery that one cannot imitate another's life with impunity, and that one must learn self-acceptance. Moreover, Laura's fleeting relationships do not seem to bring her real happiness. Now she's getting closer to forty, she realises that her increasingly insistent desire for a child threatens her relationship with young Oskar and requires a degree of stability. Martha, Muriel's mother, observes this all from a distance, although it still affects her. She too will see her life overturned and rediscover the dreams she had as a young girl .
