Synopsis

It's work as usual for two Chinese coal miners, Song and Tang, until they decide to kill Tang's brother, Chaolu, with their axes while deep underground. The murder causes a brief mine collapse which covers up their crime and allows them to demand compensation from the mine owner to cover their losses from the "accident." When they meet Yuan, a sixteen-year-old boy forced to leave school to make a living, Tang offers him a job at the coal mines--as long as he poses as Song's nephew. However, when Song bonds with the boy, he balks at making him their next victim.
