Synopsis
The life of two Lisbon drug addicts and the dirty work they have to devise in order to survive in the vague hope they have in a brighter tomorrow. Joao, coming up to thirty, is a drifter with a glassy stare. He has left behind him what little he had, and has taken up a vacuous life as a vagabond. He has worked in public places and as a builder but his drug addiction has always forced him to get more money, more quickly. Teresa has been with him over three years. When she left her home, she had neither dreams nor ambition and she has a dark, self-destructive character with suicidal tendencies. She is also ill and has now let herself go. She should go to hospital for treatment but she doesn't want to go through the bother of it all. Teresa and Joao are caught up in the same hopeless spiral in which aspirations and objectives are few and too narrow.
