Synopsis
The Kafka-esque world of Cuba under Castro's rule is brought to light in this reconstruction of the 1989 trial and execution of General Arnaldo Ochoa Sanchez, the highest ranking General and hero of the revolution and commander of the Angolan and Ethiopian campaigns. After a dinner party at which Ochoa and other government officials advocate the resignation of Fidel Castro and his brother Raul as the only solution of Cuban political and economic crisis, the General is arrested along with the other guests. After six days of an excruciating process that mirrored the "Moscow Trials," Ochoa and four other fellow officials, were surprisingly acccused of illegal drug trafficking and shot by a firing squad. In a rare sign of popular protest, graffiti reading "8-A" (Ochoa in Spanish) appeared on walls throughtout Cuba.
