Synopsis
In 1986, Ljudmila Ignatenko moved to the city of Pripyat with her husband Vasili, a fireman. On the night of the Chernobyl nuclear power plant disaster, Vasili was called out to help fight the blaze. Within three weeks he was dead. Soon after, Ljudmila's newborn child died. Doctors told her she would have died herself if not for her baby, who absorbed any radiation she was exposed to. Ljudmila was left with untold grief. Years later, she travels back to Chernobyl to visit memories of her past and the husband she loved and lost.
