Synopsis
10-year-old Khaled is a responsible, intelligent and tough little boy, but life is not easy. After spending time passing through various foster homes, he now shares an apartment with his sickly ex-junkie mom. Still, he loves his mother dearly and she is the one person that he trusts. When Khaled's mother dies, he covers her up, shows little emotion and tries to continue with life as if nothing has happened. The daily routine of going to school, cleaning, helping mom with her make-up and cooking dinner for two continues. As the days pass, the charade gets more difficult. Bills begin to pile up, the social worker keeps coming by looking for his mother and his clothes need mending. Furthermore, the multitude of aerosol deodorizers can do nothing about the smell emanating from his mother's room and the slimy building manager wants the rent cheque - otherwise, he threatens, he will enter the apartment by force. The little boy is faced with some difficult decisions.
