Synopsis
For a young girl to quit school in order to learn film is perhaps more dramatic than film itself. Maysam Makhmalbaf, the younger brother of 19-year-old film director Samira Makhmalbaf, captures the incredible cinematic ambitions of his sister during the production of her film "Takhte Siah/ The Blackboard" (Iran/Japan/Italy/2000), as well as her activities at the 2000 Cannes Film Festival. This film reveals the difficulties encountered while shooting "The Blackboard" on location in the rocky mountains near the border of Iran, Iraq, Turkey and Syria.
