Synopsis

After working for the same boss on the stock exchange for twenty-five years, the elderly Sipho retires. He decides to start selling live chickens on the black market in the township, in the hope of one day being able to return to the stock market as an investor to make his fortune. But he still has a long way to go. He buys a pick up, a shipment of chickens and heads for the market. Trade is flourishing, but Sipho's success angers the competition. After an attempted theft, he decides to take the chickens into his house, to the dismay of his wife. Sipho is a cheerful and charming opportunist who likes to get everyone to help him out and is inventive enough to cope with setbacks. But he is also a libertine and that threatens his marriage and his chicken trade too. Now he is his own boss for the first time, he finds out that he is not just responsible for his chickens, but also has to take account of people.
