Synopsis
Follows Pokhi, a young orphan girl, who is being raised in her village by her aunt and uncle. When they decide to move to the city, they leave Pokhi behind, under the care of the village money-lender, Dayananda, and his wife Aita. Dayananda's greed makes him unpopular, and his animosity towards the villagers only makes matters worse. His wife, however, is a gentle soul and Pokhi soon becomes attached to her. When Aita dies following an accident, Pokhi's world is turned upside-down. Dayananda accuses her of being a witch who has brought bad luck to his household and refuses to have anything to do with her. Meanwhile, the villagers are beginning to fight back against the avaricious money-lender, bringing him to account for his actions in front of the village council. Both Dayananda and Pokhi must face difficult choices as they struggle to understand themselves and reconcile their differences.
