Synopsis
Gregory is the last of a dying breed, a man who transports reels of film between cinemas, enabling one or two prints to service multiple theatres. Through his grandfather, obsessed with the movie stars of old, and his neighbours, who all dream of stardom, he is connected to a fervent mythology that makes his menial job impossibly noble. The cinema also infects Gregory with a sense of melodrama in his personal life; for him, friendship is forever and true love is perfect love. He has a rude awakening, however, when his "true" love turns out to be a pragmatic bar hostess, seemingly indifferent to the allure of cinema's sparkling magic. Rumblings at work also suggest that the Manila mall-based cinemas are quickly destroying the rickety cinemas that Gregory services, especially the one his best friend, a projectionist, works in. A very special birthday party for his grandfather at his favourite cinema becomes Gregory's way of fighting for cinema and what it has given him.
