Synopsis
In August 1945, as Soviet troops invade China, forcing out the Japanese, peasant Yang flees a POW camp. Attempting to escape the conflict by travelling across the taiga, Yang makes the journey with the help of fellow refugees Nadya and Yoko. Learning to survive and help one another despite differing politics, the trio find common ground in their struggle to escape.
