Synopsis

There's nothing like the holidays to bring out the neuroses of the average dysfunctional family ... and Casey Olsen's family has more neuroses than most. She and her lover, Alexandra, have moved to Casey's New England hometown so that Casey can establish a boat restoration business. Needless to say, her career serves as apt metaphor for her relationship with her family. When the entire clan reunites for Christmas after many years apart, the unwrapping of presents takes a back seat to the unraveling of emotions. Mother refuses to accept her oldest daughter's sexuality and, more specifically, Alex, who is banned from the Olsen home. Alex, however, doesn't take no for an answer, which intensifies Casey's distress. Rounding out the tense tableau are Shawn and Andrew, Casey's estranged brothers who have slowly retreated into guilty isolation after the death of a family friend.
