Synopsis
For 30 long, rough years--since she was 7--Rosa Zaragoza has been a prostitute in the most dangerous area of Mexico City, selling herself herself to support her sons. Exploitation, intimidation and murder are all part of her daily life. But Rosa has seen too much, and starts helping other prostitutes to break free from their Mafia chains. She becomes their spokeswoman, speaking out against the criminals who rule the streets. Death threats are made, but Rosa keeps on expressing outrage, even going on TV to tell her story, until one night when she is silenced. Six men pull a hood over her head and drive to an isolated site. She is raped and kicked, and kicked and raped, and left for dead. She suffers through six operations and somehow manages to survive. This strong, charismatic woman is today fully active. In this film she speaks out again, despite the threat of death, as a constant companion. Her cheerful, positive spirit has not been destroyed; instead Rosa exudes warmth and compassion.
