Synopsis

Explores a seldom discussed moment of Canadian history known as "The Conquest of 1838," when revolutionary leader Francois-Xavier Bouchard crossed the border into Canada, bringing with him a renewed passion for liberty and democracy as well as the belief that supportive Americans would help the Patriots in defeating the British forces. However, the American troops never appeared and Bouchard's men were ambushed while British troops tore apart Montreal in search of Patriots and their supporters, eventually capturing Bouchard and dozens of his men and sentencing them to death without a civil trial.
