Synopsis
A motley group of Russians come together in an abandoned army barracks in 1953. The comraderie that develops between the assortment of women and men- Ukranians, Jews, Germans and Tartars, former soldiers, bourgeoisie, smugglers, and alcoholics- comes from a sense of community felt in the wake of Stalinism and World War II.
