Synopsis

Albert Bursche is a middle-class executive looking forward to a two week family vacation with his wife and daughter in the South Pacific. But when Albert's company is investigated for fraud, his credit cards are stopped and he's unable to collect the family's tickets. Desperate to save face, especially from nosy neighbor Helmut, the family decides to hide in the cellar for two weeks, pretending that they've still gone. As they try to keep up this ruse, a number of unexpected difficulties develop.
