Synopsis
In the 13th century, a king is going off of to war and sending his young son, Valdemar, to stay with a bishop, Eskil, in the latter's castle. But Eskil plans to overthrow the king and claim the crown, so Valdemar and his new-found friend, Aske, escape and try to reach the king to warn him. When they finally do, its too late: The king is captured and Eskil threatens to hang Vlademar if his father does not step down.
